Look at the example. It
is a study by Van Gogh. There are many different marks made by the artist.
Sometimes the marks are heavy while others are light. By using a range of
marks Van Gogh has used texture in his work. When did Van Gogh live? Would he have drawn like this if he had been born to an earlier era or different culture? It is important when assessing any art, craft or design piece, to put it into its context. As well as developing our drawing skills we will research into why artists use different marks in their work. |
